Cans for Habitat

Cans for Habitat is a partnership between Habitat for Humanity International and the American Aluminum Association. The goal of the program is to encourage the general public to recycle their aluminum cans in receptacles provided to local Habitat affiliates by the Aluminum Association. These cans are then collected and recycled locally, with 100% of the proceeds benefiting the local affiliate.

Mon County Habitat for Humanity is just getting started with our “Cans for Habitat” program, and we are actively recruiting local schools and businesses that would allow us to place attractive cardboard can-recycling bins at their location. Mon County Habitat staff and volunteers will make sure that the cans are picked up often, the interior bags replaced, and receptacles replaced if necessary.

“Cans for Habitat” has proven to be a simple, environmentally friendly way for Habitat affiliates around the US to raise good money! Last year, more than 88 houses were sponsored nationwide just from the value of recycled cans! Every can counts!
